Intermediate | Advanced Watercolor Spring Session 2

Mondays | 1-4 pm EST | 5 weeks April 6, 20 27, May 4 & 11 @ Townsend Atelier Instructor:  Durinda Cheek Time to kick your paintings up a notch? This intermediate and advanced class is designed for students to work at their own pace. Receive individual instruction and discover your own unique style. Each session will begin with a brief review of one of the fundamentals of painting: using design in a composition, painting atmospheric and linear perspective, mixing colors, relating values, and anything the students would like to cover. See how to manipulate your source material to create the painting you want. Please bring 2 or 3 paintings you would like to improve to the first class. You may also want to bring photographs to design and paint. I would prefer you bring your own photographs as opposed to those from magazines. Come and enjoy painting in a relaxed environment while you improve your skills and techniques in watercolor! Level: Intermediate to Advanced, with critique Pre-registration required. About the Instructor: Durinda has a Masters degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She has taught numerous art classes in the Georgia public schools, The McCallie School in Chattanooga, and has been an adjunct professor at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In addition, she has taught classes from her own studio and has led workshops throughout the southeast region and in France and Italy. In addition to teaching, Durinda’s award-winning paintings have been exhibited in numerous international and national exhibitions and are represented in corporate and private collections in the US and abroad. Working in both watercolor and oil, she uses the medium that best suits the subject. To enhance her professional growth, she has studied with master artists such as Wayne Wu aws, Tom Lynch, Jack Beal, and David Leffel OPA. She is a signature member of Georgia, Tennessee, and Louisiana Watercolor Societies, a member of Oil Painters of America, Plein Air Florida, Plein Air Georgia, and the Association for Visual Artists. As an invited artist for the last four years, she paints at Walt Disney’s World’s Epcot Flower Festival every spring along with eleven other artists from across the country.
