Full Figure Sculpture Workshop with Angela Cunningham

July 10-12 10 am-5 pm Instructor:  Angela Cunningham All levels are welcome Join sculptor Angela Cunningham for an immersive course in full-figure sculpture, where students will work from a live model to create a 1/2 life-size sculpture using water clay. This course is designed to teach foundational sculptural skills, including essential studio practices, the accurate use of calipers for measurement, and a deeper understanding of three-dimensional form. Students will learn to capture correct gestures through alignment and shape observation, while also developing an understanding of anatomy and structure through the principles of mass and planes. Each class will offer individualized feedback alongside engaging lectures and live demonstrations, equipping students with a clear and methodical approach to sculpting. Recommended for any level of sculpture enthusiast, this course is also ideal for drawing and painting students looking to enhance their comprehension of the human figure. Students will be working from a live unclothed model. The model fee is included in the workshop fee. Join us for this enriching artistic experience and take your skills to the next level! CLICK HERE for materials list material images material images material images About the instructor: Angela Cunningham (b. 1977) grew up in the Bay Area of California. After high school, she studied at various art colleges, eventually receiving her BFA in Drawing/ Painting with a minor in sculpture from Laguna College of Art and Design. After teaching in California for a few years, Angela decided to pursue her desire to learn the classical techniques of drawing and painting under the mentorship of Jacob Collins at the Grand Central Academy of Art. She graduated GCA in 2010. She now teaches at her own studio in Asheville, North Carolina. She also teaches workshops at various studios nationwide. Angela is a recipient of various awards, including the Morris and Alma Schapiro Achievement Award, Art Renewal Center First Place Scholarship Award, Alfred Ross Achievement Award, and more. We are unable to issue refunds for visiting artist workshops unless Townsend Atelier cancels the workshop or we can fill a cancelled spot with someone on our waiting list.
