November 13-15 10 am-5 pm EST Instructor: Todd Casey In this class, Todd will give lectures and demonstrations based around the Oil Painter’s Color Handbook and his new book, The Oil Painter’s Color Workbook, which will be hot off the press in the fall of 2026. Each day, students will work on different exercises outlined in the workbook to better understand color and its practical use. Some topics that will be discussed are: color mixing, color wheels, value and color strings, pigments, and light on a form. Signed copies of this new book will be available for purchase. All levels are welcome. There will be a one-hour lunch break each day. Lunch is on your own. Casey studied drawing and painting at the Water Street Atelier with Jacob Collins and at The Art Students League with Max Ginsburg. Drawing inspiration from classical art, historical literature, and personal experience, Casey imbues each piece with a love of both pragmatic, corporeal form and storied, intentional function. Every painting has a story to tell; whether emergent from the viewer’s own perception or brewed from the very deep well of introspective thought, the artist inculcates with each brush stroke. Subtlety, refined grace, meditation, and honesty are the hallmarks of his aesthetic. His paintings have been honored with awards several times in recent years. Most recently, he won first place 3 years in a row in the Portrait Society of America Members Only Competition, and a gold medal in oil painting from the Allied Artists of America, in 2015. His work can be found in collections throughout the United States. We are unable to issue refunds or exchanges for visiting artist workshops unless the workshop is cancelled by Townsend Atelier. However, in the event we have a waiting list and are able to fill a cancelled spot with someone on the list, we can issue a refund less the cancellation fee.
